Good and Bad News for DJT
Donald Trump “won” the two federal cases against him yesterday when Special Counsel Jack Smith filed motions to dismiss the charges against him associated with the January 6 Insurrection and the theft of federal documents. Trump reiterated his claim that the cases should never have been brought. “Retribution” has been promised for Smith and other federal prosecutors. Trump is a sore winner.

There was a celebration at Mar-a-Lago yesterday, but the news was not good. The New York Times and Washington Post report that Trump aide Boris Epshteyn solicited expensive consulting contracts from individuals seeking appointments to Trump’s cabinet. Among those solicited was Scott Bessent, Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Treasury.
According to the Post, one day after Trump met with Bessent in February 2024, Epshteyn invited Bessent to lunch and solicited a $30,000 per month consulting contract to promote Bessent. Bessent…
